NYLT, or National Youth Leadership Training, is one of the best programs that we can put our young leaders through.
Through the course Scouts are taught many skills that help them better enable other Scouts to perform well in your units. In other words, it’s not just the Scout who attends that wins. Because of the extreme cold and snow days last winter, some schools added additional days on to the school year. This meant that those Scouts who would have attended the June course could not. A fall course was added, and in a new format – taking place over two weekends instead of in one continuous week. We’ve not offered this course locally in this format before.
As of last Friday we have only nine Scouts registered for the Fall 2014 NYLT course. We need 16 to make it a viable course. Please, consider having one or more of your Scouts attend this training!
Course fee is $275, discounted to $225 if paid in full by August 15.
Course dates are:
If there are any questions about the course please contact Gina Hannemann at the Kenosha Service Center, 262-632-1655, extension 1111, or Gina.Hannemann@Scouting.org.
The NOVA Camporee will be August 8th, 9th and 10th on the grounds on the GE Healthcare Institute in Waukesha, WI.
We will be camping on the grounds with access to their building, classrooms and labs. This event is open to all registered Scouts and Venturers.
All of the challenges being planned are to earn the Scout or Venturer their NOVA Award. In addition to the challenges, we will have multiple demonstrations, including two or more 3D printers in operation, an MRI demonstration and robotics demonstrations. A fun and challenging time for all!
Register online at www.ThreeHarborsScouting.org/NOVACamporee
Registration cost is $29.00 per Scout / Venturer and $12.00 per Adult. Register soon as space will be limited!
We’re looking to see all of our council’s budding scientists and engineers there!
Scouts, Scouters and Scouting Alumni are all invited to join the Kenosha Kingfish take on the Green Bay Bullfrogs in a Northwoods League game on August 4th, 2014. It’s a great way to get big league fun at a minor league price!

Check out the flyer for even more information!
There are still two Scout Days ticket opportunities left this summer at Great America. Scouts and their families enjoy discounted admissions of just $31.00 each at this special event (gate $67, online $47), and a special all you care to eat buffet is available for an additional $12.50 per person. We need your help! On September 13th we will have a Day of Service at Camp OhDaKoTa, hosted by the Kanwa tho OA Lodge. You do not need to be a member of the OA to come out and help. EVERYONE is encouraged and welcome to help us get OhDaKoTa into ship-shape before winter sets in. The lodge will be providing a lunch to everyone who tells us they are coming out to work.
There are tons of jobs to be done at a variety of skill levels. From painting to clearing brush there are tons of jobs that each year have to be deferred or postponed because we simply don’t have enough help to get everything done. If you have specialized skills that might help us around camp – please write that on the registration form if you would!
Please let us know that you are coming at least a week ahead of time – you can do so on this registration form. Find the “Day of Service” listed in the middle of the page, and if you’re not a member of the OA there is a line there for “non-members.” That’s OK! But we need to know how many people are coming so we can provide enough food for everyone.
