Celebrate Earth Day in May!!

The Kenosha/Racine Land Trust is sponsoring a fun and educational community project. Join local organizations, including Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, to help restore and preserve the East Branch of the Root River. We will be removing invasive plants and trees, and planting up to 1,000 hardwood tree seedlings.

Date:     Saturday- May 7, 2011

Time:    8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Rain date: Sunday, May 8th – 12p.m. to 5p.m.

Duties: Pick up trash, remove invasive plants, and plant trees.

A safety review will be done by the local Boy Scout Troop 310 of Yorkville. Instructions for tree planting will be provided by the Kenosha/Racine Land Trust.

Place:     Stonecrest Shores Subdivision, Yorkville, WI

(near the corner of 50th Road and 53rd Drive in Yorkville)

Please come to 14905 Kingston Way

Volunteers ages 7 and up are welcome; all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and be supervised at all times.

FREE hotdog lunch and tree seedling for all volunteers!

Wear boots, protective clothing, and dress for the weather.

A limited amount of equipment will be available; if possible please bring- gloves, eye protection, shovels, pruning shears, and bottled water.
