Hello Fox River Volunteers – My name is Margaret Williams.
I am the professional who has been given the assignment to fill Katie Dembowski’s shoes. Katie did a great job with the Fox River District and the Boy Scouts of America and I look forward to continuing what she has started.
To give you a little of my background, I have been a professional with the Boy Scouts of America for about 10 years. I started my career in the Madison, WI council and was a District Executive and Finance Director there before coming to Milwaukee County Council in the fall of 2008. I have served the Root River District for the past 4 years as District Director. I have also been the staff advisor for popcorn 2009 and Camp Director at IMR in 2010. Over the past year, I have taken on several new Council activities and played a leadership role in program delivery since the consolidation.
Before becoming a professional with the Boy Scouts of America I was very active volunteer in the program with my son, Dan. He is an Eagle Scout and after I did my time at the Pack and Troop level. I moved on to the District and Council committees- I have done finance, programs, and training. I have been honored with the District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver and am a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. I believed so much in the program that I decided to work for the Scouts so that I could impact more youth.
While my official start date as Fox River District Director/Council Programs is November 1st you will have to wait a little while longer as I will be on Vacation from October 31st until November 7th. My Son Dan and his finance Becky are getting married on November 3rd so another professional will cover the November Roundtable that I can enjoy this special family event.
I look forward to meeting you all and working with you to give the youth in Fox River a great Scouting experience. See you soon.
