Trainfest 2012

My grandfather purchased a brand new Lionel 1666 in 1946. It was quite simply an oval of track that ran around the Christmas Tree. My mother has fond memories of that train from her childhood, so a few years back my son and I cleaned it up and restored that old train. It has run around my parents tree ever since, laid out with wonderful lit up Snow Village homes complete with sledding hill, ice skaters and a tiny Santa Claus that flies over the rooftops of the town. My father takes great pride building the town every winter.

Many families have wonderful memories of spending time working on and modeling with electric trains. Relive the glory years of this amazing hobby at America’s Largest Operating Model Railroad Show – November 10th and 11th at the Wisconsin Products Pavilion of State Fair Park.

Trainfest is simply amazing! From the massive garden G scale down to the tiny Z scale you will find functioning layouts and enthusiasts who still work hard to keep the hobby alive. Best of all – Scouts *IN UNIFORM* get in FREE! (with a paid adult)

Besides the layouts and seminars, there are tons of trains for sale – many at the lowest prices you’ll find before Christmas, so you can start a family tradition too. Kids can collect stamps around the fest on Saturday, and enter to win one of 4 train sets given away!

On the ticketing website, you can find out how to buy discount pre-sale tickets, and get free tickets for kids’ admission too! Folks come from all over the country to attend this show. You’re lucky – it’s right here in our town! Don’t miss it!
