You do not have to nominate someone for an award to attend the dinner, however – this is just a great opportunity to thank those outstanding volunteers and get to know others in our awesome Fox River District. It will also give you a chance to meet and welcome our new District Director, Margaret Williams.
If you have never attended a District Dinner before, this is the one you don’t want to miss! This year’s venue is a little different from our usual event. It will be a business casual (non-uniform, please) event held at a banquet hall, having a social hour with adult beverages, a silent auction and maybe a few door prizes!
All unit leaders, their spouse and/or guest(s), Scout parents are invited and encouraged to attend this annual awards banquet.
To promote greater attendance, it has been suggested that each unit (Pack, Troop, Crew, Post or Ship) sponsor their registered leaders’ attendance to the dinner as a show of their support and gratitude for all of their volunteer efforts. This permits the unit leader and their assistants to attend, thereby reducing their out-of-pocket expense.
Additionally, for this year’s event every unit is requested to donate an item for the silent auction, with the minimum value of $15. The item can be purchased from the unit’s treasury or can be a donation from a business, the charter organization or from individuals. The proceeds from the auction will go towards our Friends of Scouting program.
